Job Description

1. Job description
A Barista prepares and serves coffee, tea and other beverages in cafés, hotels, restaurants and hospitality outlets. The role focuses on beverage quality, customer service, presentation and maintaining a clean coffee station.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare espresso, cappuccino, latte, americano and other coffee beverages.
- Operate espresso machines, coffee grinders and related equipment.
- Prepare hot and cold beverages, including iced coffee and specialty drinks.
- Perform latte art and maintain consistent drink presentation where required.
- Take customer orders and explain beverage options.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the coffee station and equipment.
- Monitor coffee beans, milk, syrups and other supplies.
- Follow hygiene, food safety and equipment-cleaning procedures.
- Handle customer requests and coordinate with the service team.
- Process orders and payments when assigned.

- Knowledge of coffee preparation and basic beverage techniques.

- Previous barista or café experience preferred; some employers consider trainees.

- Familiarity with espresso machines, grinders and coffee recipes.

- Customer-service and communication skills.

- Ability to work quickly during busy service periods.

- Professional grooming, punctuality and a positive attitude.

- Knowledge of hygiene and safe food handling.

- Barista training or certification is an advantage.
